FLIR Product testing in an industrial design studio. The product has been used by security guards to test ease of operation. Image from the system integration test. This product is one of a whole system that we designed and developed for FLIR. The product has already reached the serial production stage and still, between Batch and Patch, we update, photograph and examine the product following the inputs given to us by security personnel.

products in the field of security is a familiar field for Quntz product designers. Today, we are witnessing the constant and rapid development of various technologies. Therefore, it is important for the customer that the development will be quick because BETA generation of the product will always be on demand. Quntz Product designers specialize in 3D simulations. In the studio, designers perform 3D simulations before production to know where to improve the product visually.

Initial sketches don't only determine the DNA of the product. With the help of sketches, we will also solve the technical-mechanical problems at the beginning of our path. While brainstorming with sketches on paper, we will throw solutions into the air that will form the basis for the mechanical development of the product. For example, we draw how the cable interacts with the connection, how to assemble the product, where the display will be located, etc. Quntz Product designers are leading the market for the development of high-tech products in Israel.

One of our areas of expertise in the studio is screen design. The battery specification from FLIR, requires a LED display for charging control and battery life. Our experience, enabled us to design a waterproof rugged screen. Massive rib surrounds the screen, prevents direct damage, as well as two reinforcement ribs on both sides of the screen, helping to keep it away from direct contact when falling. In the design process, we also chose the exact specification for the screen components and we were able to compress a large amount of components into the screen area to help dissipate the battery weight and seal.

In product design, sometimes there are time zones in which we simply create different options that serve the same function. In the picture before us, there are several design options for texture on the front of the product. The texture is designed to blur the distortions of the plastic surface, caused by the injection process. From all of the options, FLIR chose one to proceed with the design process.

The USB cable that we developed "in-house" for FLIR in the product design studio, designed in a way so that when connected, most of it is "swallowed up" inside the battery and thus does not disturb the user. You can notice the side buttons on the top of the battery. They are part of a mechanism that we developed in our studio. The function of the mechanism is to lock the cable. The function of external buttons is to unlock the connector by pressing the two of them, simultaneously.

Prototypes and pre-production samples often come to a studio from our manufacturer in China to conduct comprehensive tests. The picture shows a connection test. The battery has to be connected easily and quickly. security requires to respond quickly to any situation. Also, the battery must be stable and the weight should be balanced. This is a very important requirement on behalf of the customer. Therefore, several pre-production experiments were required

As the project progressed, our customer, FLIR, requirements changed. The battery components have been replaced and, therefore, the battery size has increased. We used the opportunity in the studio to make an update in the design. The picture shows three new design options for the battery. You can see that the difference between the options is mainly in the texture and the significant update in the design is that the corners now more rounded, and the side buttons have climbed upward and now, they are more free and accessible.

When we design for our clients, we try to give them solutions for the future. We offer to optimize the product by increasing the range of customers. as we increase the range, the demand for the product will increase. in the picture, we see three design updates when the plastic is painted in a military scheme for furure possible military clients.

We at Quntz product designers are developing product from top to bottom. We are experts in plastics. And when we develop a plastic product we do it the best. In the picture you can see screenshots from plastic design. We make sure everything is normal in terms of tollercances, thicknesses and extraction angles. Our experience in the field guarantees the customer a faster development due to the limited number of regects from the manufacturer.

We perform mechanical design along with the shape development process. By doing so, we save time for FLIR. In the picture you can see screenshots from the engineering session. We make sure that there are reinforcing ribs that are best constructed and the distance between them is reasonable. A reasonable distance between plastic details, also affects the amount of material injected per unit thus saving the customer production costs
industrial design | plastic design | product evolution
Developing an electronic product for a huge market and serial production in high quantities takes longer than a standard product. Product design sometimes changes its look during development according to the specifications and requirements. In the picture, we can see a clear evolution. This FLIR product in the big picture, as it is now, is much more complete and defined than it was at the beginning of development.

In the 3D explosion of the product, you can get an idea of the complexity of the product design project. From this angle we also see the interior of the engineering design of the product. The design includes bosses, ribs, variable wall thicknesses, and rubber that surrounds the shape of the product. we planned the rubber to make it function as a waterproof seal. It is important to note the great amount of time spent in order to reduce the volume of the product and the innumerable attempts to change the internal components to get the best product possible.
industrial design | rechargable battery design | prototype
A prototype for FLIR that came to the product design office so that we could examine it and return feedbacks to the manufacturer. Apart from the excitement that comes with each new product that we have developed, the prototype is taken to a series of tests. We will examine mainly if there are cosmetic defects resulting from faulty production, product comfort and stability. Sometimes we will have to carry out a series of repairs ourselves in order to continue production.

A prototype that came to our office gets a series of internal tests. We will also examine the interior of the product. We will examine whether the outer shells are good for the electronic components and the ease of assembly. A product that is not easy to assemble in the factory, increases production costs for the customer because it takes longer. Quntz Studio Product designers, international experts in developing high-tech products and accompanying the customer until the serial production stage.

Quntz Industrial Design Studio specializes in the development of innovative products, from concept to serial production. 3D simulations are done in the studio before production for FLIR. With the help of the simulations, we check that the appearance of the product is indeed to our satisfaction. We will examine each external aspect and also examine the how the light hits the surface, allowing us to determine the level of texture and finishing type the manufacturer has to perform.

A product comes to the studio so we can examine it. Mainly, this is the stage in which we measure every detail of a product, to see if it has not exceeded the dimensions. We are aware of the customer's desire to receive a professional response to any issue whatsoever in product development. Therefore, we will maintain communication with the manufacturer with regard to repairs, updates and improvements. Quntz product designers, specialize in industrial design project management for 20 years.
plastic design | industrial portable battery | prototype tests
FLIR battery for portable closed circuit camera. The design includes, in addition to its ability to contain the internal components, active components, screen and buttons. The design includes shelf components, for example: glass screen and components that we plan as part of a comprehensive product development solution that we have been providing customers with great success for decades. The complexity of such a product can not be done by an inexperienced firm, but only by a an experienced and leading firm that offers several types of expertise in developing a product under one roof.
